TechKriti Open School Championship (TOSC) is back

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is once again back with its acclaimed TechKriti Open School Championship (TOSC) aptitude test. This is a major event conducted as part of the IIT’s famous technical festival named TechKriti.

The word TechKriti is derived from two languages. The English word ‘tech’ denotes technology and the Sanskrit one ‘kriti’ stands for creation. The TOSC aptitude exam focuses on innovation and practicability, rather than just academic skills. It further aims at strengthening mental aptitude, logic and creativity as well as provides a platform to build fundamental experience and knowledge. This is to motivate students to work hard, steadily and systematically for a bright future.

TOSC is a platform for students of classes 9 to 12 divided into two pools in which ability, knowledge and presentation skills would be assessed. Pool A is for classes 9 & 10 and Pool B for classes 11 & 12. It is divided into three rounds.

Round 1 is a 90 minute written examination consisting of 60 questions that tests aptitude and general awareness. It will be held on October 15th at selected cities all over India and the results will be published on October 25, 2017. All questions are multiple choice types.

For Round 2, based on their performance in the first round, 500 qualifying students from each Pool will be selected. They would each be required to submit an on-line abstract of their solution to a prevailing problem relating to the economic, political, physical or social environment of their vicinity.

Round 3 will take place at IIT Kanpur on January 7, 2018. On the basis of the abstract they submit, 50 students from each pool will qualify to this round. Here, a chance to showcase their presentation skills based on abstracts awaits them. The students will each have to make a presentation based on their submitted, which would be judged by a distinguished panel of academicians and professors.

The winners from each pool and the remaining selected participants will receive various prizes and certificates. Last year’s TOSC unfurled many vibrant minds who had out-of-the-box ideas to offer.

B. Sreenath, a student of Baker Vidyapeeth in Kottayam , Kerala secured the first prize at the national level. In his abstract, he mooted the idea of ‘smart tickets’ for solo women passengers traveling on trains. This would help prevent outsiders from freely entering ladies’ compartments. This innovative idea and his skilled presentation on it fetched him the prize. Now, TOSC’18 is all set for a rendezvous with similar innovators. Are you ready?

Are you ready to suggest creative ideas for burning human problems? Do you have innovative and inventive technological ideas to put on the table? If so, do attempt TechKriti Open School Championship ’18, the prestigious acclaimed psychometric test of IIT – Kanpur, which is sure to take qualifiers to new levels of success.
