CPI(M) workers attack Balram MLA

(Palakkad, Jan 10, 2018, DG): CPI(M) workers hurled rotten eggs at Congress leader VT Balram on Wednesday morning when he arrived for inaugurating a shop.

Balram, the MLA of Thrithala, was in the eye of a storm after his controversial comments about Communist veteran AK Gopalan (AKG). Balram was attacked by a group of CPI(M) workers who had assembled at the venue hours before his arrival.

Many including policemen got injured in the stone pelting that followed between Congress and CPI(M) workers. CPI(M) workers also destroyed Balram's vehicle.

Earlier, Thrithala MLA Balram had written in Facebook that AKG was a paedophile and he was in love with a 12 year old child during his under cover days. Many CPI(M) supporters have slammed the comment on social media. Meanwhile, Balram has come with justification for the views expressed in a second post.

A. K. Gopalan or AKG, was an Indian communist leader. A.K.G was a Communist who showed how the avenues of parliamentary democracy could be utilized for advancing the cause of the people. He served as the leader of the opposition since the first Lok Sabha in 1952.
